Introducing Garden City Arts

We are thrilled to announce the launch of Garden City Arts to our congregation at New Haven Church!

The unveiling of Garden City Arts has ignited tremendous excitement within our community. For nearly a year, many have shared aspirations of establishing a dedicated space where creatives can converge to celebrate each other's work and foster an environment where creativity can thrive. Garden City Arts embodies the realization of this collective vision.

At our church, we hold creativity in high regard because it's clear that God holds in in high regard. As stated in Genesis, humanity was created in the image of God, and a part of that means that humanity is endowed with the capacity for creativity. This divine appreciation for creativity is further exemplified in Exodus 31, where God provided Moses with detailed instructions for constructing the Tabernacle and its furnishings. God specifically designated Bezalel from the Tribe of Judah as a master craftsman, filled with the Spirit of God and skilled in every craft, to execute this sacred work. These narrative underscores God's esteem for creativity and craftsmanship, which continues to inspire us in our own creative endeavors.

We are building a Garden City by cultivating Appalachia's stories, sounds, and arts.

Logo Meaning

We've received wonderful feedback on the logo we've designed for Garden City Arts, with many expressing their admiration for its unique style and symbolism.
The logo features a distinctive "woodcut" design, an ancient form of printmaking that pays homage to the enduring natural beauty of the Appalachian region—home to some of the world's oldest woods and mountains.

Upon closer inspection, natives of Boone County, West Virginia, will recognize familiar elements within the logo. Prominently displayed at the center is the Boone County Courthouse, distinguished by its Greco-Roman revival architecture, towering pillars, and golden dome tapering to a singular point. Surrounding the courthouse are rolling hills and a quaint town nestled within a garden-like landscape — a visual representation of our aspiration to cultivate Boone County into a Garden City.

In essence, our logo not only captures the present essence of our town but also symbolizes our vision for its future transformation.
